The life and times of an anti-social intellectual

I'm on another DVD shopping spree consisting mostly, as always, of cheap DVDs. In the last few days I've bought "Ringu", "Meet the Feebles" and "Braindead" all at a low price and I have "One Hour Photo", "Fargo" and "Wag the Dog" coming my way as well. Also on the way are "Terminator 3" and "Gamle mænd i nye biler" (finally available at a somewhat low price). Furthermore, with my birthday coming next week more DVDs ought to hit my collection. I'm going home to be with my family from Thursday to Saturday to celebrate my birthday. I haven't seen them since my grandmother's funeral so it will be nice to see them under more happy circumstances.
The regular classes ended this week and it's time to study on my own focusing on specific topics for each course. It's a bitch finding material, writing topic statements, bibliographies etc. but I'm on top of things...so far. I still have a few classes in my Developing America course but that will mostly be movie showings and teacher/student conversations and not really lectures.
Also, the most expected wrestling shoot interview of the year will be in my hands today. Jim Cornette shoot iv. session 2003 incoming. I can't wait!
Most of my weekend will probably be spent with some wrestling friends at a gym in town for some wrestling practice. I'm mostly there as a spectator but who knows, I may get in there and deliver a DDT or two.
Tomorrow I'm going to the cinema to see The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (the original from the 70's). I really look forward to that :D Another thing I look forward to is DR1 finally putting "Nikolaj & Julie" to sleep. Final episode tomorrow and it is about time. The show started out well but this last season has been boring and uneventful.

After 4 classes at the University today I'm burned out. Again I wonder how I ever get through 8am-2pm days in elementary school. Most of the time today was used on our specific topics for the exam. It got to be a bit annoying near the end but I got through it and overall there was a lot of useful information. November and some of December will consist of exam preparation as this week is basically the last week of regular classes at the University.
I spent a lot of my weekend reading "Contemporary America" by two Americans teaching at the University of Copenhagen. A terrific book describing and analyzing America as it looks today. There are some very interesting parts about history, culture, society, gender, race etc. The only thing I didn't like all that much was the part about the political system. It's not as confusing as the British system but almost. If I never read another page about how a bill becomes a law I will die a happy man.
My birthday is coming up on November 6. I guess it will be a bit sad this year since so many family members are missing. Certainly the volume of gifts will be a record low but it doesn't matter all that much all things considered.

As a student at the University you would think that library access would be one of the most important things for a student. Well, I've been going to the University now for almost 2½ years and I have yet to get a library card for the University library. Why? First of all I've never had any use for it and secondly I had this idea that it would be a hazzle to get one. But today, finally, I decided to get one. And how long did it take to get one. Oh, about 2 minutes... Good thing I waited all this time, huh.
