ROH Empire State Showdown
Spencerport, NY - 25/10/03

BJ Whitmer vs. Dan Maff (**1/4) - Field of Honor match. High impact match most of the way. BJ got the win. About average

Outcast Killaz vs. Fast Eddie & Don Juan vs. Dunn & Marcos vs. Jimmy Jacobs & Alex Shelley [Scramble match] (***) - HUSS! HUSS! HUSS! HUSS! HUSS! HUSS! HUSS! HUSS!

John Walters vs. Christopher Daniels (****) - Crowd was really into Daniels here. Great ground work in this match which built well. Crowd was with it all the way and overall it was 20 minutes of excellent action

Carnage Crew vs. Izzy & Dixie (**) - A brawl-type match early. All in all, a bit of a mess. I didn't like it too much

Xavier vs. Chris Sabin (***) - Field of Honor match. All action match. Xavier won by making Sabin tap. Nothing special but a solid effort by both

CM Punk vs. Steve Corino (***) - This match had the longest pre-match introductions in the history of the world. Amazingly it didn't kill the crowd (completely anyway). Great psychology in this match which carried it most of the way. It went to a 20 minute draw and the crowd wanted 5 more minutes. Punk and Corino exchanged words on the mic (some funny shit there) and we never got our 5 minutes

Jimmy Rave vs. Colt Cabana vs. Justin Credible vs. John Walters (**3/4) - Walters was filling in for Teddy Hart. He said he wanted a victory tonight (after losing to Daniels earlier). And he got that victory when he made Credible tap in the sharpshooter. Flat finish to a good match with some cool spots

Homicide vs. Samoa Joe [No-Holds-Barred] (***1/2) - Non-title match won by Homicide when he choked out Joe with a noose. Very stiff action and the crowd ate it all. Let's hope Homicide gets a title shot soon! Great main event

A
The Special K match went too long and was a mess but otherwise this show was packed with matches ranging from good to terrific. Solid thumbs up.
